หลังจากหายไปนาน ผมดันผิดคอนเซป เอาเพลงเก่ามาลงซะได้ ก็นะคิดซะว่าแก่แล้วก็เริ่มโหยหาเพลงเก่าบางนะ สำหรับวง RHCP (Red Hot Chili Peppers) เป็นวงโคตรเก๋าจากยุค '80 มี studio Album มาแล้ว 9 ชุด(ไม่นับ Remaster กับรวมฮิต) เก็บรางวัลแกรมมี่มาแล้ว 7 ตัว แถมเพลงฮิตอีกเพียบ เนื้อหาเพลงจากวงนี้ บอกได้เลยว่าไม่ธรรมดา ลักษณะเนื้อเพลงของ RHCP มีลักษณะเฉพาะตัว พูดถึงการเสื่อมถอยของสังคม ปัญหาสังคม ยา สาวน้อย การพัฒนาการของชีวิต Hollywood ฯลฯ ทั้งหมดนำเสนอผ่าน symbol เจ๋งๆเฉพาะตัว

หลายๆคนเคยบอกว่าเพลงของ RHCP มันถึงจุดอิ่มตัวแล้ว คือมัน Perfect มากกว่านี้ไม่ได้และไม่เคยน้อยลง ในทางดนตรีผมเห็นด้วยกับเค้านะ แต่ในภาคเนื้อหา Kiedis เขียนเพลงได้คม และหาสิ่งใหม่ๆมานำเสนอได้ดีมากขึ้นเรื่อยๆ

แล้วผมจะนำเสนอเพลงอะไรดีล่ะเอาเป็นว่าจากอัลบั้มล่าสุด เพลงนี้แหละ Dani California

บางคนบอกว่า ผู้หญิงในเพลงนี้คือผู้หญิงในท่อน A teenage bride with a baby inside
Getting high on information ในเพลง Californication และก็เป็นคนเดียวกับท่อนนี้ Dani the girl is singing songs to me Beneath the marquee ในเพลง by the way ยังยังไม่พอ เธอยังปรากฎในท่อน Blood loss in a bathroom stall/Southern girl with a scarlet drawl ของเพลง Scar Tissue ผมเองก็เห็นด้วยนะผู้หญิงคนนี้มีพัฒนาการพร้อมกับเพลงของ RHCP เธอเองมาสิ้นชีพในอัลบั้มนี้นี่เอง

โดยความหมายทั่วๆไป เพลงนี้พูดถึงความตายของผู้หญิงคนหนึ่ง ซึ่งชีวิตเธอนี้สุดๆ เลยต้องดิ้นรน ยากจน ไปเป็นโจร สุดท้ายก็ตาย

ในความคิดของผมนะความสำคัญของเพลงนี้อยู่ตรงที่เขาดึงเอาสไตส์การแต่งเพลงแบบในยุค '80 มาใช้เพลงร็อคในยุคนั้น ศิลปินมักนำเองประสบการณ์และชีวิตคนรอบข้างมาแต่งเป็นเพลง ซึ่งมันได้อารมณ์สุดๆ ผมเคย search เจอครับในหนังสือ ประวัติของ Kiedis เขาบอกเรื่องนี้เอาไว้ว่า Dani ไม่ใช่ผู้หญิงที่ถูกแต่งขี้น แต่หมายถึง ผู้หญิงที่เคยเกี่ยวข้องกับเขา ว่ากันว่าแฟนเก่าของ Kiedis ตั้งแต่สมัย RHCP ยังไม่มีชื่อเสียงเธอชื่อว่า Danielle สมัยนั้นพวกเขาจนมากจนบางครั้งต้องขโมยของ และสุดท้ายเธอก็ตายอยู่ที่ California  นั้นเอ
